Reviews for The First Years Hands Free Gate (Baby Product) We are veterans of many kinds of gates for both dogs and now children, and I am crestfallen that it took us this long to discover this excellent model. It mixs the protection of a everlasting mount with the relative ease of installation and occasional portability of pressure-mounted versions.

I had two irregular doorways to fill in with child gates so our scootching 13-month old could play protectedly in the area. For one huge opening I used the SuperYard Gate, which is a decent all-plastic telescoping gate with everlasting-mounting rails, and for the opposite I used the First Years arms-free with a single extension. After seeing how stable the First Years used to be, and how extremely east it used to be to install the extensions, even if I'm ok with the SuperYard Gate, I wish I had offered two First Years Hands-Free,

The operation is actually cool -- you step on a pedal, and knee the thing open. It works in each courses! I was once skeptical the pedal was once child-proof, however letting my son (who is the median weight of a two and a half 12 months previous) put his full weight on it did not budge it a chunk. The design can be very attractive; good thin white metallic as an alternative of the same outdated lattice-work plastic on most gates.

One comment on an earlier poor overview, the place the Grandparent indicated their 15-month-old might pull up the foot pedal: this can't open the gate if the highest is correctly tightened! (See below).
Reviews for The First Years Hands Free Gate (Baby Product) This gate is actually a great product. I love the reality that you don't have to hardware mount the gate (no drilling into the doorways required), and it can be nonetheless very sturdy. It was once extremely easy to put in, and is very safe and stable. My 18 month son is aware of how the gate opens, however cannot open it on account of the burden required to push down on the lever. The simplest poors I encountered had been:
1) The first Hands Free gate I purchased used to be not painted correctly, so I had to return it for some other one.2) I had to purchase the 5" gate extension for the gate to slot in the doorway. So, in any case, there are additional prices if the opening you must use the gate for isn't that slim. But all in all, it is definitely worth it.
Reviews for The First Years Hands Free Gate (Baby Product) After trying 3 completely different gates (that all had excessive rankings on Amazon), this used to ben't my favorite - however remains to be a just right gate. I just most well-liked probably essentially the most options of the others. If it had a much broadr gate opening, I would have given it a 5 famous person rating. I grew to become my home into my own version of a baby gate showroom to determine out which one I wanted, so this is my take on three totally different gates.

I suppose they're all lovely excellent gates, it simply is dependent upon your situation and what options you're looking for. The key options that ended up making a distinction to me have been 1) the width of the gate opening and 2) the latch mechanism

First Years - Hands-Free Gate
-----------------------------
cost $50 & extensions $15 / gate is 32" Tall / fits 29"-34" doorway width / 1.5" bar to step over / gate opening 17"

- My gripe with this gate used to be essentially because the gate opening is best 17" vast! I'm 5'8" and I felt like I was once going to need to truly concentrate strolling through it so I would not turn out bumping it every time. However...
- The arms-free step pedal is beautiful cool and labored beautiful easily. I would not worry about a bit of child figuring it out and having enough weight in an effort to push it down to open it. For me it just wasn't cool enough to beat my problem with the gate opening width.
- Good top to the gate.
- It was very sturdy in my doorway.
- This one did have a little ramp function for the bar that goes throughout the ground that helps decrease the tripping factor.
- Fits best up to three4" doorways so has the very best chance of needing an extension.
- All that being said, in case you truly need a hands free gate, and the width of the gate opening does not computer virus you, do that one.

Kidco Center Gateway:
---------------------
cost $85 & extensions $24 / gate is 29.5" Tall / matchs 29.25" to 37.5" doorway width / 1" bar to step over / gate opening 22"

- Has the widest gate opening (the area you walk through, not the doorway that it fits into) of any of them - about 22". (This indisputably gained points from my 6'2" husband who was once lovely annoyed when walking thru one of the vital differents). I was stunned after reading so many reviews on all these gates that there wasn't more point out of this feature.
- This one also had essentially the most stable latch feature. You must push a howeverton to carry the handle and carry the gate over a bit of ledge to open it and stroll via. I determine this will likely completely be the toughest one for my little one to figure out.
- This gate has the most adjustable widths and due to this reality would almost certainly be the strongest in most door widths.
